According to Inernational Campaign For Human Rights in Iran, at least one MP is demanding case reviews for political prisoners.
Conservative member of Parliament Ali Motahari has publicly asked the Judiciary to review the case of ailing political prisoner Ali Shariati, who has been on hunger strike for more than two months in Evin Prison. The Tehran MP made the call after a 71-day hunger strike by imprisoned rights activist Arash Sadeghi resulted in the Judiciary agreeing to Sadeghi’s request for a review of his imprisoned wife’s case.
“The release of Arash Sadeghi’s wife and the end of his hunger strike and medical treatment shows that the Judiciary is paying better attention to realities in society and the need for proportionality between crime and punishment rulings,” said the second deputy speaker of Parliament on January 4, 2017 via his Instagram page. There are still at least 3 on hunger strikes in Iranian prisons on trumped up, false allegations. One man for protesting acid Attacks on women!
About a week ago Arash Sadeghi ended his 72 day hunger strike with the temporary release of his wife Golrakh. We understand that Iran has again gone back on the promise to review her case and is attempting to force her back to prison. Without the promised review.
They did the same thing with Maryam Naghash Zargaran, even adding days to her sentence!
There are at least 3 others currently on hunger strikes to protest their arrest. One is a doctor who was aressted on a trip to Iran. This is what they are famous for. They even confiscated a tea flask from one of the political prisons on a hunger strike to keep him from having fluids. This regime is corrupt and one of the world’s worst human rights abusers. An official with the UN even recently called for these abuses to stop. And this regime thinks it’s above the humanitarian laws of the world. One political prisoner recently vanished, taken by guards from prison and his family has no idea where he is.
As we have said before, these prisoners have no voice, they have no appeal, their lawyers are silenced or even arrested themselves. The only voice they have is like Arash Sadeghi when half a million people went to titter to raise a voice for him. Again speak out, hold Iran accountable and expose this darkness. Our voices do matter!
